Nuance Ranked #1 In Document Scanning, #1 In Cost Recovery And #1 In Voice-To-Text Solutions For The Legal Community

ILTA Survey Shows eCopy Scanning and Equitrac Cost Recovery Used by more than One-Third of Firms; Dragon Speech Recognition Used by Nearly Half

Nuance Communications, Inc., a leading provider of speech and imaging solutions, recently announced that its legal technology solutions once again topped their respective categories in the 2011 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Technology Survey. The survey, representing more than 100,000 attorneys and more than 250,000 law firm technology users, showed Nuance eCopy ShareScan as the leading document scanning and workflow software, Nuance Equitrac Professional as the leading cost recovery solution, and Nuance's Dragon as the leading speech recognition solution.

For document scanning and workflow, Nuance eCopy ShareScan was ranked as the #1 software, maintaining its top ranking in every ILTA Technology Survey that has tracked the category. Utilized by nearly one third of surveyed firms and outpacing competitive solutions by more than 50 percent, Nuance's eCopy ShareScan is the world's best-selling document scanning and workflow solution for networked MFPs. eCopy ShareScan provides law firms with everything needed to automate their paper-to-digital workflows, letting legal professionals scan paper documents easily and securely using existing investments in network MFPs and scanners. The software works with MFPs from the world's leading vendors - including Canon, HP, Konica Minolta, Océ, Ricoh, Toshiba and Xerox. eCopy PDF Pro Office is desktop PDF software that allows users to create, convert and collaborate with PDF documents.

In the cost recovery software category, Nuance Equitrac Professional was ranked #1 for the ninth consecutive year, in use at 37 percent of surveyed firms. Equitrac is the world's leading solution for print management and cost recovery, providing organizations with an automated way to track, audit and bill for document reproduction activity, while helping firms to reduce print costs by 30 percent or more. Equitrac Professional delivers these benefits by automatically enforcing printing rules, authenticating users, and accurately identifying and allocating document costs.

Voice-to-Text technology was included for the first time in the ILTA 2011 Survey, with Nuance's Dragon speech recognition technology in use by nearly 100 percent of firms that employ speech-to-text solutions. Dragon Naturally turns speech into text, and can be used to create documents and control the PC by voice up to three times faster than typing and with up to 99 percent accuracy. With Dragon speech recognition, law firms can speed document turnaround, reduce transcription costs and streamline repetitive workflows without having to change current business processes or existing information systems.

"Nuance's leading position in automating documents in the legal market reflects the proven value of our solutions, providing productivity-enhancing features that can be easily learned and used by busy attorneys and professional staff," said Robert Weideman, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Document Imaging. "Nuance solutions deliver continuous, quantifiable benefits by helping law firms reduce the time and cost in litigation, eFiling and other matter-centric processes."
