Q: When you talk to prospects, what do they tell you is their biggest document processing challenge, and why?

A: Surprisingly, we at EMC find from our customers that the biggest challenge in document processing is the most basic one: "how can they become more efficient managing the volume and different types of documents that drive important business processes?" And despite the fact that document capture is a relatively mature industry, transactions that have migrated from paper to electronic have actually raised the bar for paper document processing, increasing the expectations regarding the time it takes to complete processes. Two to four weeks is no longer acceptable; customers expect processes to be completed within a day, while on the phone with a representative, or even on-demand.
