BancTec's Neil Snowdon Delivers Keynote At TAWPI's Capture Conference

December 12, 2007

Neil Snowdon, vice president of portfolio management and software development for BancTec, delivered the keynote address at The Association for Work Process Improvement's (TAWPI's) 6th Annual Capture Conference, on December 6-7, 2007 at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Florida. BancTec, which is a global provider of advanced, high-volume document and payment processing solutions, also demonstrated several of its market-leading business solutions at the show.

TAWPI's 6th Annual Capture Conference was the most comprehensive event for real-world ideas and information on imaging and forms processing technology, processes and best practices. Topics covered include page scanning, data recognition, workflow, electronic content management, image and data archival, and output technologies.

Mr. Snowdon's discussion explored how companies must "expand their digital horizons" beyond basic capture and workflow automation. First, he explained how the complexity of information entering organizations has increased over the last decade, and what impact this increasing complexity has had. For example, many organizations are now trying to understand how to shift from a "line of business" processing model to the much more challenging "enterprise-level information center" model. Next, Mr. Snowdon discussed how global organizations must integrate image processing and capture, business process management, data entry, and document repositories into "24×7" continuously running operations that can handle all input feeds, including forms, invoices, faxes, web forms, email, voice and others. Ultimately, Mr. Snowden armed session attendees with best practices for building an enterprise information center, as well as with detail on some of the pitfalls to avoid during the process.

"BancTec has become a leading provider of the processes and solutions necessary to elevate what has long been considered a basic, backroom operation into a strategic imperative," said Snowdon. "Building an understanding of how to handle the enormous volume of information with which they are now faced will help organizations focus on what is critically important, reduce cost and complexity, and position them to take advantage of new opportunities."

TAWPI is a membership association dedicated to helping practitioners in the payments automation, distributed capture, and imaging and forms processing arenas maximize their value as professionals, enhance operations efficiency and effectiveness, and position their organizations for success in the future. The Annual Capture Conference provides all levels of business, operations and technology professionals with invaluable information to improve data capture, document processing, imaging, fulfillment, claims processing, order processing, service bureau management, and forms processing.
