EOB processing is a time-consuming and costly task since it is traditionally performed by hand. Large amounts of unstructured data create bottlenecks in productivity, preventing business-critical information from reaching the IT system quickly. Additionally, EOB forms and medical records are not of a standard format, causing additional slowdowns and leaving room for error.

Euromut partnered with I.R.I.S. to simplify and standardize the processing of paper-based EOB documents sent to their patients. Euromut's goal was to automate the workflow of these documents; how they were processed and managed, and also to reduce the processing time. The chosen solution was also required to interface with EUROMUT's existing pricing platform (AS/400).

To achieve this objective, I.R.I.S. offered Euromut a solution that combined the scanning and electronic data-capture platform of IRISPowerscan™ with the automatic document reading application IRISCapture™ Pro. This solution combined three recognition engines, including A2iA FieldReader™, A2iA's toolkit designed to capture handwritten and machine printed information from structured documents and forms.
