EOB processing is a time-consuming and costly task since it is traditionally performed by hand. Large amounts of unstructured data create bottlenecks in productivity, preventing business-critical information from reaching the IT system quickly. Additionally, EOB forms and medical records are not of a standard format, causing additional slowdowns and leaving room for error.

Euromut partnered with I.R.I.S. to simplify and standardize the processing of paper-based EOB documents sent to their patients. Euromut's goal was to automate the workflow of these documents; how they were processed and managed, and also to reduce the processing time. The chosen solution was also required to interface with EUROMUT's existing pricing platform (AS/400).

To achieve this objective, I.R.I.S. offered Euromut a solution that combined the scanning and electronic data-capture platform of IRISPowerscan with the automatic document reading application IRISCapture Pro. This solution combined three recognition engines, including A2iA FieldReader, A2iA's toolkit designed to capture handwritten and machine printed information from structured documents and forms.
